“Climate campaign with a difference! Oldenburg asks, what can the climate do for you?”

“In times of climate protection fatigue, the Coool agency asked itself how to generate enthusiasm for such a burning issue – and responded with an unwaveringly positive and rousing campaign that promotes the city’s climate portal and aims to reach a broad section of society.
The portal of the city’s Office for Climate Protection is about personal benefits in terms of electricity, heating, and mobility, about financial support and commitment—and above all, about working together to achieve the urgent climate goals. (…)
That’s very human. And that’s a lot. This is demonstrated on eye-catching posters in beautiful shades of green, yellow, and pink, which promote “cheaper heating in the long run”, “fuel less”, efficiency boosters and that the sun shining in Oldenburg can save you up to 50% on energy costs.
Portraits of people of different ages and backgrounds praise the benefits for one’s own wallet, increased flexibility, time savings and health, and show how legitimate one’s own thinking is.
Alluring climate protection
Statements such as “It’s totally logical that climate protection must bring benefits” can be read on them or “It’s absolutely okay that climate protection must pay off.” In addition, the stars shine with temptations, pink stickers with smiling faces rave about “Me + my power plant” and the “efficiency booster” shines in black and green. (…)”

Is the concern of critics justified “that the focus of the campaign is not on the climate, but on their own benefit and that the issue of climate protection could thus lose importance? (…) But climate protection is the point. It’s just that the path to the goal is different. And the personal benefit is always a very convincing and human motivation.”
